The lusting for infinity / El deseo de infinidad
This collaboration is titled after a phrase[1] from Kathy Acker’s novel, Blood and Guts in High School. When I first read it, I knew I would use it as an epigraph in order to write a text; however, the phrase has been so organic that it has served as an exquisite excuse to write a book of short stories, and now, to develop this present collaboration. The phrase itself did not represent the answer to a question, rather it opened up a larger spectrum of questions, in which infinite possibilities are pulsating, some of which I would like to share here.
Throughout this collaboration as a guest editor, I will concentrate on what is, perhaps, the principle meaning of this phrase: the body as a vehicle traversing circumstance. Under this premise, I want to address the diverse and heterodox thoughts that the concept of health might arise from both a literary perspective and the collective imaginary.
I also consider it pertinent to note that my posts will be written in two languages, Spanish, my mother tongue, and English, a language in which I’m taking my first steps. I say, “will be written,” because they will not necessarily be faithful translations (despite the oxymoron), rather two versions of who I am in one language and the other. The exception, of course, will be when dealing with texts from other authors and sources, as is the case with the next post, which is not a coincidence that it was written by Kathy Acker in 1997.
I hope that my future thoughts, in the form of posts, will not remain a series of mere monologues and will invite you to the dialogue and exchange. As I stated at the beginning, these are not answers, but rather possibilities in the face of diverse lines of questionings. So, do not hesitate to contact me at: [email protected]

La frase[1] que da título a esta colaboración, corresponde a la novela Blood and Guts in High School, de Kathy Acker. Desde la primera vez que la leí, supe que la utilizaría como epígrafe para escribir un texto, sin embargo, la frase ha sido tan orgánica que fungió de exquisita excusa para la escritura de un libro de cuentos, y ahora para desarrollar la presente colaboración. La frase en sí, no representó la respuesta a un cuestionamiento, sino que abrió un abanico de preguntas, en las que aún continúan pulsando un sinfín de posibilidades, algunas de las cuales me interesa compartir.
Durante esta colaboración, abocaré la frase únicamente hacia la que, acaso, es su significación principal, la del cuerpo como vehículo atravesador de circunstancias. Bajo esta premisa, me interesa abordar, desde la perspectiva literaria y la del imaginario colectivo, las diversas y heterodoxas reflexiones que pueda suscitar el concepto de la salud.
También considero pertinente anotar que las colaboraciones estarán escritas en dos idiomas, español, mi lengua materna, e inglés, idioma en el que apenas estoy dando mis primeros pasos. Digo “estarán escritas”, porque no son fieles traducciones (pese al oxímoron), sino dos versiones de la que soy, en uno y otro idioma; salvo casos en los que otro sea el autor de lo que posteo, como en el post que sucede a éste, en donde no es casualidad que el texto sea de Kathy Acker.
Espero que las siguientes reflexiones en forma de post, no se queden en mero monólogo y que inviten al diálogo e intercambio pues, como mencioné en un inicio, estas no son respuestas, sino posibilidades ante diversos cuestionamientos.
